3 Classroom Tips for Teaching the Founding as a Standards-Aligned Unit

1. Start with why the Articles failed, not with the Convention itself. Students who jump straight into "the Framers met in Philadelphia" without first understanding what specifically the Articles of Confederation couldn't do — tax, regulate interstate commerce, enforce laws — miss the why behind nearly every compromise the Convention made. 8.C.3.1 exists to establish that foundation first.
