Grade 7 sits in the middle of Oklahoma’s 6-8 CS band, which draws from CSTA’s Level 2 (grades 6-8) national standards. Of the three middle-school grades, Grade 7 turns out to be the closest match to CSTA of any we’ve compared so far — most standards are near-verbatim, with only two genuine Oklahoma-specific additions. The Exact Matches

Two Grade 7 standards are word-for-word identical to their CSTA source. 7.AP.PD.04 and CSTA’s 2-AP-18 both read: “Distribute tasks and maintain a project timeline when collaboratively developing computational artifacts.” 7.DA.CVT.01 and CSTA’s 2-DA-08 both read: “Collect data using computational tools and transform the data to make it more useful and reliable.” Unlike Grade 6, which softened CSTA’s “collaboratively” language for project timelines, Grade 7 keeps it intact.

The Two With No CSTA Match

7.IC.SI.01 asks students to practice netiquette and evaluate how technology can be used to “distort, exaggerate, and misrepresent information” — a media-literacy/misinformation component that CSTA’s 6-8 Impacts of Computing band doesn’t address. 7.IC.SI.02 asks students to use advanced tools to design and create online content (digital portfolios, blogs, multimedia) — closer to a digital-production skill than anything in CSTA’s Impacts of Computing strand. Both look like genuine Oklahoma additions, continuing the pattern from Grade 6 where every no-match standard came from the same social/ethical corner of the framework.
