Information is not Knowledge

Information is not Knowledge

I often hear the phrase, “I heard” or “I read somewhere.”

Information comes in different forms, through sight, sound, and experiences. However, information is not knowledge.

Knowledge is an awareness or familiarity of a fact or situation. Information is facts provided or learned about something or someone. Note how knowledge is personal and held closer to the individual, whereas, information is cold, detached and does not care about feelings.

As I progress building my zettelkasten, collecting information is a key part of the process. Simply having information, does not equate to understanding, processing, and utilizing that into an actionable item.

Rather than replicate the information, we must ruminate on it, and apply it to an experience or utilize it to the full extent.
