Bullet Journaling

Bullet Journaling is a method for the personal organization via a notebook. This ideal ‘create your own needs’ is given to Ryder Carroll. The purpose is to have one source, providing to-do lists, brainstorming, budgets, scheduling, and a myriad of other organizational tasks and record keeping. There are tons of companies, both small and large investing in providing journals. However, creating your own Bullet Journal allows you to design your own unique needs.

Last year, I created a unique bullet journal for my wife’s birthday. I was able to culminate many online free templates and merge them with my wife’s needs. I saved all of them to my Google Drive. This is the power of creating your own bullet journal. Some will acquire a blank notebook and devise their unique designs. Personally, my wife likes the larger three-ring binder size paper. Personally, I like the smaller 5 dollar black Exceed notebooks from Walmart. I don’t use pen/paper too much these days. I am in front of the computer for 8-10 hours per day for work. My wife on the other hand is a hardcore pencil/paper user.

The utilization does not have to be complicated or elaborate. Above, I kept a 3×5 card in my bullet journal to track my six chickens, giving me eggs. Having a journal with you also provides a means to keep your notes on hand. Read my article The Power of Note-Taker for that advantage. Additionally, it provides a good emotional activity to vent frustration, give yourself encouragement, and a tool for reflection. Without this type of journaling, we wouldn’t have Marcus Aurelius infamous ‘Meditations’ today.

I was able to pull down planners, calendars, checklists, password trackers, ECT. from a myriad of sites. Then the questions of which one works best for her needs. After some guidance, I was able to create a working bullet journal-planner for her. Personally, I think this is the way to do it. I have seen available journals for sale. However, the issue is acquiring one that uniquely fits your personal and business needs.

The power of searching ‘free printable templates‘ for journal or bullet journal within your search engine is astounding. Yes, this takes time. However, once you have your journal made out, you only need to revise it thereafter. As time continues, you will find what works best and will always be modifying, due to your changing needs.
