Cause of Failure

Cause of Failure

There are many factoids presenting planning as the action to reduce time, increase efficiency as well as providing success.

Such facts used are;

  • For each moment spent in planning, ten minutes of execution is saved.
  • 10/90 rule states ten percent of planning saves ninety percent time.
  • You increase your productivy by 25% if working off a list.
Yet only three percent of the population have clear “written” goals, even when it increases accomplishment by five to ten times more.

Think about that. Simply writing your goals, will help focus and accomplishment. Now you cannot simply write them down and walk away. You will use these written goals as a target which you point your time and energy toward. We write to think, so write clearly.

Alex MacKenzie warns us to do action prior to planning will result in failure. As I read this, I am reminded how much we react, rather than stop, question and then appropriately take action. At times that action is to do nothing. If we are to take action, planning is crucial for the success.

Planning is more than carrying out action in a specfic way. Planning is also the establishments of goals, policies, and procedures for a cohesive unit.

Take MacKenzie’s word to heart and prior to any action, plan accordingly and do not be the reason or cause for failure.
