We compared every Oklahoma OAS-CS unit and every Texas TEKS point with the national CSTA K-12 standards (2017 edition), one by one, and then joined the results through CSTA. This post summarizes what that three-way crosswalk shows.<\/p>\n<p><em>Edition note: this comparison uses the 2017 CSTA K-12 Computer Science Standards, the edition Oklahoma and Texas standards align with today. CSTA published a revised PK-12 edition in 2026 with new standard codes. The downloadable crosswalk now adds the 2026 code for each unit with a strong match (52 Oklahoma and 60 Texas units, 18 of 75 distinct 2026 codes shared by both states); the full 2026 comparison is in progress.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>How the three-way link works<\/h2>\n<p>CSTA is the bridge. When an Oklahoma unit and a Texas unit both map to the same CSTA code, they were each judged nearest to that standard. That is an <strong>inferred<\/strong> link, not a direct comparison of the two state standards, so treat each pairing as a starting point and check the standard text before relying on it for compliance or pacing.<\/p>\n<h2>The headline numbers<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>114 CSTA codes<\/strong> are used by at least one state&#8217;s units: <strong>56<\/strong> by both Oklahoma and Texas, 58 by Oklahoma only, and 0 by Texas only.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Oklahoma:<\/strong> 216 of 225 units (96%) map to a CSTA standard. Oklahoma wrote OAS-CS as an adoption of the CSTA framework.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Texas:<\/strong> 162 of 297 units (55%) map to a CSTA standard. 135 Texas units, covering topics such as keyboarding, ergonomics, and device-use rules, have no CSTA counterpart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Grade by grade<\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;Shared codes&#8221; counts the CSTA standards that both states&#8217; courses at that grade map to.
