Tolerance

In this age of information, where massive amounts of data come easily at out fingertips, one  think knowledge would bloom. However, today Truth has become hate speech and division continues, regardless of data. The year is 2021. While many agree with transparency, real knowledge is difficult to find. Facts and data are used to prove, and we demand access. However, as many shown statistics and numbers can be manipulated.

We have moved from real science and data to controlling our personal, prejudice, political narratives.

We now appear to live in a world where Namibian teen women having too much testosterone are banned in the Olympics, yet men competing as women becomes normal. Currently as the Covid pandemic continues, we learn those taking the vaccine can still spread the virus to unvaccinated children and others. Yet, there remains a push to be vaccinated. In fact, hospitals where employees faced the pandemic on the front lines, are now being mandated to take a vaccine, regardless of new information on these issues.

We used to be able to debate and review information in a civil manner. However, the decline of debate in America has been replaced with a call for tolerance. Rather than a lively discussion, proposing facts and providing ideas, allowing the better idea to emerge, everyone desires their own ideology to be equal. If the facts and data is transparent and goes against the individual’s narrative, then offense, denial are taken.

Dostoievski reminds us, tolerance will reach such a level that intelligent people will be banned from thinking so as not to offend the imbeciles. His writings are from the 19th century. Today in the 21st century we see this same occurrence through the banning of social platforms and other avenues where the intelligent people are losing their voice over the offence of imbeciles.
