Be Conscious of time
As a kid, I was always told, the older you get the faster time goes. While your young, you don’t put much stock into this. However, eventually, you realize just how fast time does seem to flee.
Consider these two facts.
- On average, as a parent, you only get 18 summers with your child.
- There are only 168 hours in a week. With Americans gaining less than six hours of sleep, we can safely say it leaves us 126 hours for activity, per week.
Considering the average worker spends 40 hours at work, personally more, taking into account travel time (say six hours), it leaves the person 80 hours a week.
You can decrease this even more with necessary tasks, assisting friends/families, health visits, on and on.
While time does flow the same for all, it demands more from some people, leaving less for oneself.
Marcus Aurelius reminds us, we should be conscious of how we act and speak to each other. In other words, don’t waste what little time you do have being contrite and mean-spirited.
I would also add, find and use some of those sparing minutes for yourself. If you don’t manage your time, someone else will.
