Machine Learning

Machine learning is the use and development of computer systems that are able to learn and adapt without following explicit instructions, by using algorithms and statistical models to analyze and draw inferences from patterns in data

Machine learning is artificial intelligence. However, artificial intelligence is not machine learning.

What makes up Machine Learning?

  • Subfield of Artificial Intelligence
  • Uses algorithms
  • Requires minimum human effort; is automated
  • Can learn from large data sets
  • Has strong predictive abilities
  • Makes predictions
  • Learns from data and discovers patterns

It refers to the process of a machine learning from experience. It deals only with algorithms that automatically extract patterns from data. The idea of machine learning is that you take a data set, feed it into an algorithm that learns from it, and as the output the algorithm makes predictions. (Source)
