There are 28 million people trafficked worldwide. Polaris was founded in 2002, Polaris is named for the North Star, which people held in slavery in the United States used as a guide to navigate their way to freedom. Today we are filling in the roadmap for that journey and lighting the path ahead.
Project Polaris is offering a free introductory course, Human Trafficking 101, to learn what human trafficking really is, how it happens, and how you can be part of the solution.
Polaris has also created a National Survey Study, providing a scientifically rigorous research project developed in full partnership with survivors of human trafficking to gain insights that we can use to push for real and impactful change. The study is titled, “In Harms Way: How Systems Fail Human Trafficking Survivors.” The 68 page report provides insight and is designed to shed light on the experiences and needs of human trafficking survivors — so that survivors and communities can design effective strategies to fight it.
